The Personal RuBee Access Point An Rugged Industrial Hand Held with RuBee AppPaks and TagWare Version 1-5, Nov 18th 2010

The RuBee pRap is the next generation answer to mobile data collection -- The pRap is an industrial, ruggedized iTouch/iPhone in a drop hardened industrial case, with a high performance RuBee reader built in, combined with 20/20 AppPaks and RuBee TagWare. pRaps have an optional built-in bar code reader and a host of other options and accessories. pRaps all have a two way, interactive RuBee base station and TagTooltm, a resident RuBee tag manager application. A pRap can discover, ping, read and write to any RuBee tag. Standard pRaps have a range of about 1.5 feet with range options from 7-8 feet and special designed antennas up to 50 feet (see below).





The pRap includes a family of focused AppPaks tm, with many more planned. An AppPak is a pRap application that includes specialized RuBee TagWare. AppPaks with TagWare together provide integrated asset visibility, asset management and asset pedigree mobile data collection that solves, many focused industry specific problems at a highly competitive cost. AppPaks include RuBee Tags with sensors, specialized tag registers, data logging, and storage. AppPaks collect and manage mobile industrial data, and integrate the data into larger network based data management systems. Visible offers a pRap SDK for AppPak developers with new ideas and custom tag design service.

pRods (see below) are pRaps that have an enhanced power base station, with an antenna that has a range of 15-20 feet. pRods can be used to locate assets within a warehouse, locate lost assets, or to detect hidden assets on a person, or in vehicle on exit entry.

  • 1D Laser Scanner Barcode Reader (Motorola SE-955-ALR scan engine, 30 foot read range, high speed visible laser, 2,000 g shock resistant). 2D bar code reader option also available.

  • MIL STD 810G Case (Sealed) , ATEX Zone 1, UL913-88 *

  • FIP 201 Compliant, Area Finger Print Reader (capacitive array, provides high quality ANSI 378 FBI compatible data)

  • Analog In Option - Records IRF from RuBee Tags and all waveforms.

  • Extended Range pRod antenna and base station (15-20 foot range see below)

  • GPS, WAN Data Feed, WiFi Data Feed and Bluetooth Options

  • Humidity Sensor, Methane Sensor Options,

The optional Bar Code Reader can be used to initialize or commission RuBee tags, and we can provide drivers for any other application. The area fingeprint reader option is a fully FIPS 201 compliant capacitive reader that supports ANSI 378 verified prints for logon. The pRap can be used as a general purpose hand held reader, as an issuance station for assets, and as a commissioning station. The units all come with WiFi and Bluetooth, that can be disabled when used in high security facilities.

The pRod (Personal RuBee Object Detector) is a magic wand - a modified pRap that has an enhanced, higher powered base station, a ferrite antenna with extended range. The pRod can be used to inventory within an area, and locate or find assets within an area, and provides audio feedback so can home in on the location a specific RuBee enabled device. Provides real-time visual and audio feedback to user on direction and distance to RuBee tags, enabling the user to locate missing items. The pRap has a discovery range of 10-15 feet.


The picture seen to left is a working prototype. We expect to have first commercial pRods Q1FY11.
